Prayer Session #2

Our session for this week was done in the form of a prayer session.

Prayer may come in different forms - silence, song, dance, even group sharing/casual conversations.

The main objective of the prayer session is for us to acknowledge the blessings that God has given us and at the same time learn to use these blessings in achieving our goals and desires in life.

For our next session, 30 July:
You will have a guidance session on your MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) Personality Test results. Please be on time. Venue will be our regular InTACT classroom - Bel207.

SF Consultations

Sign up for an individual/group* consultation with your SF!

See the schedule of slots and sign up at http://www1.mysignup.com/cgi-bin/view.cgi?datafile=sfconsultation

The purpose of this consultation is for the SF to get to know you guys more, to discuss about academic matters, and to check up on your adjustment to the Ateneo life.

Consultations start on Monday, July 21.
Consultations with your HA will start once the advisory marks are out.

*If you opt to consult as a group, make sure you are not more than 4 in that group.

Goal Setting (Part 2)

Last meeting, we did an activity (North, East, South, West) to test your team building and goal setting skills as a class. Your HA and I were doing our evaluation after the session and we were really happy about the outcome of the activity. Personally, I found it very amusing to see you guys work as a team. Well, at first, everything wasn't working. But towards the middle part of the activity, I thought you guys figured out a good strategy and eventually you were able to reach your goal in the fastest time possible.

What's important is this: you guys strategized and worked together to reach a certain goal. Having strategies actually sets the possibility of achieving one's goals in a clearer and realistic light and drives one in making "mini-differences" along the way that could greatly contribute to the full accomplishment of one's set goals.

Last week's online assignment was about being aware or knowing what your roles and goals are and how you can deal with them.

You have different roles in the different spheres of your personality.
- as a student i should study hard in order to prepare myself for what i will have to go through after school (julienne)
- as a student - to continue learning till my time comes and use what i have learned in a good manner (macky)
- role as a daughter-- offer support, make them proud, stay obedient, love them through and through. (alexis)
- To always be there for my father and to be a good deserving son. (paolo p.)
- As a sister, my role is to keep things in order among ourselves. (akiko)
- As a friend my role is to be of help in times when they need it and just to be a person they can be with. (albert)
- as a member of an organization in and out of school? to be responsible for what I do and to always remember that whatever I will do will reflect the name of the organization i'm in. (raymond)

You also have set goals in these different roles of yours.
- serve God until my last breath - continue to be active in the church (raymond)
-
Goals:
Be closer to God.
Have my own business which will serve the community and the environment.
Live a happy life.
Be an instrument of love to others.
Graduate with high honors :)

How to reach my goals:
Love God and trust him.
Study well and keep myself focused on doing things, not for myself, but for others.
Stay happy and optimistic.
Spread love. :)
Stay focused. :)
(kathleen)
-
5 of goals
1. find happiness
2. find fulfillment
3. find peace
4. find soul mate
5. find contentment

how to make them possible.
live life to the fullest, carpe diem.
(peepo)
-
i. To graduate from ADMU - STUDY
ii. Continue family business - DETERMINATION
iii.Live harmoniously - PEACE
iv. Happy family - LOVE!
v. A good person - VALUES
(akiko)

Just remember that in college, it is very important for you to set your goals and priorities. Unlike high school, we're already talking about serious stuff - your FUTURE. Strategize really well!!!

For next week's meeting, July 23:
We will be having another prayer session. You will be divided into two groups. I will announce the venue and the grouping as soon as possible.

Goal Setting (Part 1)

Last meeting (during the CMO Prayer Session), we talked about your desires, how prayer works in building up your desires, why dedication and faith are important in fulfilling those desires. These desires help you realize your goals. This week's meeting is about the importance of having goals.

The GD this morning was about how you work as a team to achieve or reach your goal - to arrange yourselves according to what was asked for and ultimately, to win the competition.

It is important that you have goals.
  1. Goals set your direction (it is difficult to get somewhere without knowing where you're going). Goals give you focus, guides you in investing your efforts, motivates you to endure and persevere.
  2. You should also know and live the importance of strategizing to make the achievement of your goals possible.
Now is your chance to share with us your goals in life. You are not to submit anything next meeting but we want to know what you think about this module. Kindly answer the guide questions briefly:
  1. What are your different roles in life?
    - as a student?
    - as a son/daughter?
    - as a brother/sister?
    - as a friend?
    - as a classmate/blockmate?
    - as a member of an organization in and out of school?
  2. What are your goals in life (may it be in school, in your family life, in your organization)? Cite at least 5 of your goals.
  3. How will you make these goals possible? Cite at least one way per goal in number 2.
Please be active in our online discussions. This is an extension of our offline discussions during InTACT class.

Reminders for next meeting, July 16:
  1. Student Handbook Contracts. Please read the policies stipulated in the handbook. If you have any questions, you may contact Ms. Sheri or me.
  2. Prayer leaders: Alwyn Chua, Vince Crisol, Kevin Davis.

Community Building Activity

In line with the InTACT Program’s vision of strengthening the bond between the freshmen, particularly within your own blocks, we will be holding our first ever Community Building Activity. It will be an inter-block alternative sports fest wherein the various InTACT sections will be competing against each other in simple games designed for them to strategize and work better as a collective unit while at the same time, simply having fun. Hopefully the activities planned for you guys will bring about a sense of unity and camaraderie as you go through these fun challenges together.

Your block is scheduled to have your CBA on AUGUST 16, Saturday, 12.00 to 5.00pm.
This is equivalent to TWO InTACT sessions. So don't miss this out!

Details will be announced as we near your scheduled date.

On Desires

How are you guys doing on your fourth week as freshmen? I hope everyone is coping well with the Ateneo environment. Much so, I hope everyone is using the "lightness" of your academic load these first few weeks to get to know how it is to be a student of the Ateneo. I'm pretty sure, in a few weeks time, you'll experience the real deal in academics.

And so, this morning's session was about desires. All of us have desires - may it be good or bad. But we should remember that these desires wouldn't be met without our participation - like prayer, 90% is given by God but the remaining 10% rests on us. We should not forget that our deepest desires in life are God's desires for us as well.

Homework:

As part of your participation, we want you to know or be aware of what your desires in life are - would you want to become a successful businessman or a famous owner of a clothing brand? Would you want to have stable family life with lots of children and a beautiful husband or wife? Would you want to build your mansion on top of a hill?

For your homework to be submitted next meeting, July 9: On a short bond paper (8.5" x 11"), present what your desire/s in life is/are. It may be in the form of an essay, a diary entry, a letter, a poster, a drawing, a graphic representation, a sketch, a collage, or anything that you can think of.

Please label your work with the following format:
InTACT - Section SS (upper left, first line)
Name (upper left, second line) Date (upper right, second line)
Name of Homeroom Adviser (upper left, third line) Name of Student Facilitator (upper right, third line)

Another important thing (as part of your participation) is for you to answer the Getting to know you part of this online space. Kindly reply to the post: http://intactblockss.blogspot.com/2008/06/getting-to-know-you.html
Online discussions are an extension of our offline/classroom discussions in InTACT. So treat this as part of your InTACT program as well. It won't only help us remember you, but it will help you more discover who you are as persons and students and as persons for others.

Some reminders for next meeting:
  1. For those who haven't submitted their 1x1 id pictures, please do so. Write your name and intact section at the back.
  2. Do not forget your homework. You know what will happen if you don't submit your homework *big grin*
  3. The following people have to submit the STUDENT INFORMATION SHEET by Friday, July 4: Noel Hernandez, Michelle Hernandez and Vince Burke.
  4. Prayer leaders for July 9: Mia Bisnon, Julienne Canoy and Sands Chanto.
