Alternative Assessment Guidelines

INTAC2 SS: Introduction to the Ateneo Culture and Traditions
Semester 2, School Year 2008-2009

Guidelines for the Second Semester Alternative Assessment Project

General Rule: YOU ARE TO CHOOSE ONE AMONG THE FOLLOWING MEDIA OPTIONS THAT WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU. YOU CAN MIX MEDIA (USE ONLINE JOURNAL AND VIDEO BLOG FOR THIS PROJECT) PROVIDED THAT YOU USE ONE MEDIUM PER MONTH (FOR EASIER, EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE CHECKING). FOLLOW THE SPECIFIC GUIDELINES PER OPTION. ALL OPTIONS ARE TO BE DONE INDIVIDUALLY. REFLECTIONS AND JOURNALS SHOULD BE PRIVATELY DONE. NO PAIRED OR GROUP JOURNALS, PLEASE!

A. TRADITIONAL JOURNAL
1. You are required to have only one journal notebook/diary where you will write all your reflections for the semester.
2. Just like any journal or reflection entry, you have to specify the date and title of your entry.
3. A journal entry must have a minimum of twenty (20) sensible sentences. Make sure that you write with sense, complete thought and clarity.
4. You have to make a minimum of 15 journal entries for the entire semester.
5. Journal notebooks will be collected for checking during InTACT class. The HA or SF will announce the collection of journal notebooks through email or text.
6. Journal notebooks will be returned either on Monday before the next InTACT session or during the next InTACT session itself. Changes in collection dates, if ever, will be announced in class.
7. Entries may come in the form of a poem, drawing, scrapbook, comic strip, caricature, essay, story, or simply a diary entry. When you choose to do an alternative journal (aside from writing an essay), make sure that you support your drawing or anything with a reflection. Make sure that you tackle up the specific theme given for the week. Other entries to complete the minimum number of required entries may not specifically be about the theme for the week.

B. ONLINE JOURNAL
1. You are required to create a blog for InTACT purposes only. Personal blogs cannot be used for this requirement.
2. Blog whatever way you want! Each blog entry must consist of a minimun of twenty-five (25) sensible sentences.
3. You have to make a minimum of 15 journal entries for the entire semester.
4. Online journals will be checked on a weekly basis. Deadline for weekly blog entries will be every Friday, 6:00pm.
5. The HA and SF will check your blogs after the said weekly deadline.
6. You have the option to set your account to private (only you, the HA and SF can view your blog) or public.

C. VIDEO BLOG
1. You are required to create an account in You Tube. You may want to set your account to private if you don’t want to share yourselves to other people worldwide.
2. You may choose this option only if you have a webcam and, if you are not yet of legal age, you are aware of the intellectual property rights that you might violate if ever.
3. You are to speak about the week’s theme for a maximum of only 3 minutes per entry. Please do not exceed the maximum number of minutes for video blogging.
4. You have to make a minimum of 15 video blogs for the entire semester.
5. Video blogs will be checked on a weekly basis. Deadline for weekly video blog entries will be every Friday, 6:00pm.
6. Please be aware of the laws or the people that you might violate when you choose to do a video blog entry.

GRADING SYSTEM
The general grading system that follows will be true to all options. They might vary in some instances. If there will be variations in the grading, the HA or SF will announce it during class time.

7 points DEPTH AND CLARITY
